ABOUT ME

I am Alejandro Vázquez, a multimedia artist from Vigo, Spain. My work explores how our relationships with ourselves and the world are constructed in the digital age. To do this, I create pieces that observe and alter the dynamics between the main actors within hegemonic systems. My artistic practice is based more on a conceptual than a material approach, seeking to raise questions about the interconnection between information-age systems, our humanity, and the natural world. To establish these relationships, I employ poetics that re-signify common symbols and uses, as well as irony to expose the absurdity of certain aspects of our contemporary reality. As our environment becomes more and more shaped by complex systems, I aim to decipher how the synthetic products that surround us operate . How is our desire's force arranged inside the whirlpool of capitalism's apparent exhaustion in a seemingly endless system? How do our relationships had changed in a screen-mediated world? My work tries to examine those kind of conflicts in a world where reality dont stop re-configuring itself
